All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via Other on 8 Apr 2020 O8 Apr 2020 TPB: my situation is similar. 1a/4ir many programs require interview in Jan or Feb, but I were not on those list...
All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via Other on 8 Apr 2020 8 Apr 2020 TPB: I hope that you get admission in your top choice near your home so that you can be with your family. Stay positive!

All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via Other on 8 Apr 2020 8 Apr 2020 So far I only have one acceptance, this year's application almost doomed. I still have 5ir but I know the possibility of admission is very low. I feel so bad, because the only one admit me is too far from my home and I desperately want to be with my family...
All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via Other on 3 Apr 2020 A3 Apr 2020 TPB: I don't think it hurts to ask. I used my offer from another program to get more funding at a program I liked more. I think it depends on the program and what type of funding they have available. In my case, I got offered a better paying assistantship that is typically available to 2nd+ year students. I basically just said I really love your program, but I am being offered a better funding package elsewhere and they have the same cost of living. Sweeten the deal and I will choose you.
All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via Other on 3 Apr 2020 I3 Apr 2020 Guys, do you think it is a good idea to negotiate funding offers? Or, are they fixed and we shouldn't even try? Has anyone tried negotiating?
All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via POST on 24 Mar 2020 O24 Mar 2020 Hi Guys. I know rankings are very subjective and often not exhaustive enough to make decisions. But, just for reference, what do you guys think is the most credible ranking source we could follow to make comparisons?
All Economics, PhD (F20) Other via E-mail on 24 Mar 2020 24 Mar 2020 To the "Soo Sad" guy below: Please do not lose hope. This is life. Full of disappointments. My close friend got rejections from like 20 schools the first year. In the second year, he got into a top 50 school. I myself got rejections from 13 schools in the first year. This year I have gotten 4 acceptances so far. So, just keep trying and be positive. Most of us have experienced these feelings.
All Economics, PhD (F19) Accepted via Website on 15 Apr 2019 15 Apr 2019 From my experience of a Masters program here in US, I strongly feel like the Universities in big cities are not giving students enough money to survive barely. I had to borrow money, work off-campus, even after getting a full stipend. $1500 in New York/ Chicago/ California is barely equivalent to $500 in many other states like Kansas/Texas. My friend on partial funding in Texas lived there quite comfortably. I think universities in big cities should double/triple the payment for the students to have an equivalent living standard. This time I am taking it very seriously in choosing university for my PhD.
All Economics, PhD (F19) Other via Other on 14 Apr 2019 I14 Apr 2019 Does the Apr 15 deadline mean 23:59 pm on 15th? I have an offer but am on the waitlists of another school which I much prefer to go to. No time specification on the offer.
All Economics, Masters (F19) Other via Other on 7 Mar 2019 7 Mar 2019 TPB: Best to e-mail a professor or the program director directly as they are most involved in the decision making process. It is a good idea as well to attach the offer letters and highlight the funding information. This was how I received my 25k funding from the University of British Columbia.
All Economics, PhD (F19) Other via Other on 7 Mar 2019 O7 Mar 2019 For those who sent an email to the programs asking about your application, who did you send the emails to? Did you send it to a Professor or the general graduate school? Also, is it recommended to tell them about your current offers from other schools, as like bargaining chips?
All Economics, PhD (F18) Other via Other on 15 Apr 2018 O15 Apr 2018 Guys, most of the programs have a deadline at 12 pm. Please contact your program and ask for the exact due time.
All (Economics), PhD (F18) Other via Other on 15 Apr 2018 O15 Apr 2018 Today is the deadline for most of the schools, if you have already decided to decline, please decline early today so that we have a chance too.
All Economics, PhD (F18) Other via E-mail on 15 Apr 2018 I15 Apr 2018 Can you tell me that what is the "exact" time of the deadline, April 15th? Say, should I answer to the schools until 23:59 April 14th in the time zones of the schools? Somebody says "midnight"... then what is the "midnight"? Until 00:00 April 16th in the time zones of the schools? Help me out! (or just plz decline the offers you just hold)
All (Economics, PhD (F18) Other via Other on 9 Apr 2018 9 Apr 2018 People can you please add some info about your profiles when you submit, even if it is vague? It would be much more helpful.
All Economics, PhD (F16) Other via Other on 16 Apr 2016 I16 Apr 2016 Does anyone from the wait list get admission from Boston University or University of Minnesota?
ALL Economics, PhD (F16) Wait listed via Other on 15 Apr 2016 I15 Apr 2016 To the Turkish below, who are you? Hangi dananin?
All Economics, PhD (F16) Wait listed via Other on 15 Apr 2016 O15 Apr 2016 I have seen too few offer declinations on this page in the last two days. C'mon offer holders, it's April 15! Don't take other hours to think about which offer to take, you have had plenty of time to consider all your options. There are tons of people on many waitlists right now, fervently waiting for you all to get a move on!

All Economics, PhD (F16) Other via Other on 12 Apr 2016 A12 Apr 2016 Houston vs UCR . Can you help me choose between the two? Research area wise I am interested in macroeconomics and growth, particularly theoretical Macroeconomics. Other inputs will be useful as I am an International candidate.
All Economics, PhD (F16) Other via Other on 9 Apr 2016 A9 Apr 2016 Just declined UPenn, Minnesota, UCSD, Maryland, and Hopkins. Best of luck to all on the waitlist! :)
All Economics, PhD (F16) Wait listed via Other on 8 Apr 2016 O8 Apr 2016 To all the undecided: I'd never asked to decline offers before since I understand that it is a privilege that was well earned and deserved. But as the end of the season is near, and my only option to go to gradschool is to get off a waitlist is that I'm writing you to please, please make up your mind or at least release the least exciting offers, so others like me can get a chance to get into a program. In my case I'm on University of PITTSBURGH waitlist, so any of you that know that are not going there, please please decline, so I can have a chance. Many, many thanks!
